The kids did a great job during our STEM Tours last Friday. They planned out their assigned animal habitats, drew sketches, and built their habitats. Once we finished, each group was able to share and explain how their habitat was designed to accommodate the animal. They included: the animal’s food sources, the animal’s water sources, areas for sleep, areas for recreation/play, bathroom area for the animal, and areas where visitors would view the animal. They really poured themselves into this activity. It was a lot of fun.
We are going to begin working on an Animal Classification Book as our writing for the next few weeks. This week we will research mammals and birds. We will read and research, brainstorm facts, write factual sentences, and illustrate a page to go with each animal group. It is a lot of writing, but the kids are ready for this.
Next Week is the Scholastic Book Fair. This is a great opportunity to grab up some new reading materials for all ages-board books for the little preschoolers, elementary school books, books for tweens, and even books for adults. We will preview on Friday and that night before the Ford BINGO Night the Book Fair will be open between 5:30-6:30 pm for purchases.
