Mrs. Fran McMath
This 2018-2019 school year marks my 26th year of teaching. I began my teaching career teaching in the Marietta School System before moving to the Cobb County School System 21 years ago. I have been lucky to have been at great Cobb Schools-Varner ES, Kemp ES, and I have called Ford ES my home for the last 13 years. I have taught 1st grade, 2nd grade, 4th grade, and EIP. My true love is 1st grade! I am a former Cobb County Graduate myself (North Cobb High School) so it's neat to be teaching in the same county where I myself went to school! I am a graduate of the University of West Georgia where my undergraduate degree is in Early Childhood Education and Middle Grades Education.
On a personal note about myself, I am married to Todd McMath and we will celebrate our 24th wedding anniversary this December. Todd is also a teacher in Cobb County. He currently teaches Economics and Government at McEachern High School. My mother, Charlotte Martin is a former teacher now retired and my sister, Lyn Huber is a teacher in Marietta City. Many of you that have been apart of the Ford Elementary Community will remember Linda McMath, my mother-in-law, who retired from Ford just a few years ago. So as you can see, teaching runs in the family! We are carrying on this tradition as one of our own kiddos, Rachel is headed into education as the new Art Teacher at Martinez Elementary School in Augusta, Georgia.
Todd and I have been blessed with three, absolutely, wonderful children! Rachel graduated this past May from the University of Georgia where she studied Art Education. Go Dawgs! She begins her teaching career this August. Lindsey will be a Freshman at Georgia State University this year. Last, but not least, is Will who will be in 7th grade at Lost Mountain Middle School. My family is very important to me. They bring me lots of joy!
Why do I teach? I teach because I strongly believe it is a calling. I teach because I know that this is how I can give back to society the wonderful blessings, knowledge, and enthusiasm for learning that was given to me as a child. I teach because I want to make a difference in the lives of the precious children that step through my door each year!
Here’s to a wonderful school year!
